Pleine-Aire Paintings
The paintings are the result of rising before dawn to paint directly from the sunrise in the enclosed porch of the cottage at Goose Rocks Beach, generally until nine or ten AM when the light flattened out. I prepared the easel the night before, with lamps set up on my palette and canvas, and some frequently used colors premixed. I had to move very quickly to catch what ever gift the sky was giving me that day.
These are all done in oils on prepared paper, and are framed under glass in an extra deep mat. Paintings are "floated" s that you can see the deckle. The frame is a contemporary rich and simple light maple with mitered corners. All are available for sale unless marked "Sold". Click here for a guide to pricing.
